Projects need people who are different in many ways to collaborate and work effectively in temporary teams.

Misunderstandings, poor relationships and ineffective teamwork are common and limit the chances of project success.

Projects cause stress which impairs performance

By their very nature, projects are challenging environments to work in and can easily lead to individual stress.

 

This impairs performance and productivity and puts overall project success and business as usual activities at risk.

So what's happening?

Project success is largely dependent on people

  • the subject matter expertise they bring, and

  • how they perform - individually and as connected teams.

It's easy and common to assume that people

  • will naturally get on, understand each other and what they need to do, and

  • will be motivated and able to do that in the challenging environment of a project.

It's also easy to assume that people, and any technology solution you're implementing, will work in the way you expect them to.

...and it's these assumptions that cause most issues!
